ELI was present in “Casa Cor Perú 2002”
During September 2002 ELI Program was present at the VII Peruvian Exposition of Decoration and Design (VII Exposición Peruana de Decoración y Diseño “Casa Cor Perú 2002”), in which the public was shown the latest trends in regional and world decoration. The program, with an exhibition module, showed the benefits of energy savings when incandescent light bulbs are replaced by energy saving lamps with ELI Quality Seal. Leaflets with information on the benefits of ELI qualified lamps were also handed out.

ELI participated in “Coneimera” Congress
In October 2002, ELI Program participated in the IX National Congress of Students of Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics and Related Engineering (IX Congreso Nacional de Estudiantes de Ingeniería Mecánica, Eléctrica, Electrónica y Ramas Afines ”Coneimera”), which took place at the San Marcos National University (Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos) in Lima. This event gathered students and professionals of important universities and companies in Peru. ELI Program participated with a Master Lecture on “New Criteria for Lighting Design”. In this activity also participated Landlite company, which had certified products. The Program also had an exposition booth in which the contribution of the program to the lighting market was explained.

ELI Lectures in Edelnor on Decoration and Lighting
In September 2002, the ELI Program organized the lecture “Decorate while Lighting your Home”(“Decora Iluminando Tu Hogar”). The topics were decorative and efficient lighting in several home environments, and the money and energy savings without losing lighting level. This was directed to the wives of Edelnor´s staff. The audience showed their interest and certified energy saving lamps were distributed free to each participant .

Conferences on lighting software
Within the framework of the agreement between the ELI Program and the San Marcos National University (Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos), in October 2002, ELI gave lectures on the use of lighting software for indoors spaces. The lectures were directed to students of the School of Electrical Engineering and the lecturers were professionals of Landlite, Josfel, Osram and Philips Companies. This activity introduced students to guidelines to be considered to make lighting designs in a swift manner with visible results and an attractive display.
 

ELI at My House Fair ( “Feria Mi Vivienda”)
In November 2002 the ELI Program participated in My Home Fair (“Feria Mi Vivienda” ) which took place in the recreational and family zoo “Legends Park” (“Parque de las Leyendas”) where the construction sector presents an exposition, directed to families interested in buying houses. The ELI Program was present with an exhibit booth which explained the benefits of efficient home lighting using certified energy saving lamps, stressing the guarantee of lifetime and savings. The event included a TV interview with ELI´s education adviser Fernando Dorregaray Segura.

At ”My House Fair” (Feria Mi Vivienda), ELI´s education adviser, Mr. Fernando Dorregaray is being interviewed by the TV program “Economic Focus” (“Enfoque Económico”). he discussed the benefits and the activities of the Program in the country.

ELI was at “EXPO CONSUMO”
In January and February 2003 took place “Expo Consumo” organized by the Peruvian Association of Consumers and Users (Asociación Peruana de Consumidores y Usuarios - ASPEC). The ELI Program was present in one of the exhibition modules with certified energy saving lamps. ELI staff explained the benefits of purchasing energy saving lamps with the ELI Quality Seal.

HARDWARE 2003 Fair (Feria FERRETERA 2003)
For the second year in May, the ELI Program participated in the largest hardware event in Peru, the Hardware 2003 Fair (Feria “Ferretera 2003”). The participation included an exhibit module in which informative material was distributed. Moreover, the objectives of ELI Program were explained to the public visiting the Fair. Likewise, two lectures were delivered to the public in general, university students, hardware dealers and specialist technicians in the sector who were interested in the following subjects:

1.- Commercial lighting
2.-Importance of the ELI Program and the ELI Quality Seal

This year, the Hardware Fair was inaugurated by the Housing and Construction Minister, Mr. Carlos Bruce Montes de Oca.
The Housing and Construction Minister, Mr. Carlos Bruce Montes de Oca, accompanied by the Regional Manager of ELI Peru, Ing. Luis Haro Zavaleta, showed interest in the advantage of the ELI certified energy saving lamps compared to the traditional incandescent light bulbs.
CFL SALES TO EDELNOR CUSTOMERS
From December 2001 to May 2002, Philips carried out a CFL sales campaign at 9 customer service centers of the Lima electricity distribution company EDELNOR. Philips offered CFLs at reduced prices (between 3 to 5 US$ for 20W, 6000 hr, ELI-certified CFLs), starting a price reduction trend in the Peruvian market. Some 43,000 lamps were sold in this campaign. From July to December 2002, Osram launched a second campaign through Edelnor, selling 33,800 units. The success of these campaigns motivated a third stage that began in February 2003, with the participation of Osram and Land Lite through Edelnor service centers and Osram through Luz del Sur (the other electricity distribution company serving Lima).

EFICIENT LIGHTING PROMOTIONAL CAMPAIGN IN ACE HOME CENTER HARDWARE STORES
In Feb.-March 2002, ELI Peru promoted ELI-certified CFLs at 6 stores of the ACE Home Center hardware chain.

ELI CERTIFIED CFL SALE TO EDELNOR EMPLOYEES
In March 2002, ELI carried out a campaign to promote the sale of ELI-certified Philips CFLs to Edelnor personnel, at promotional prices. The campaign generated great expectations among Edelnor personnel, resulting in the sale of 3,500 units (approx. 5 units/person).

ELI CERTIFIED CFL PROMOTIONAL CAMPAIGN IN AMAZONIAN JUNGLE CITY “PUERTO MALDONADO”

In April 2002, together with Electro Sur Este Utility and CFL distributors Philips, Dekatec (Osram) and MaxLite, ELI carried out a promotional campaign of ELI-certified CFLs in the Amazon jungle city of Puerto Maldonado. More than 4,500 CFLs were sold during this campaign.

ELI IN “FERRETERA 2002”

In June 2002, ELI participated in Ferretera 2002 exhibition, the largest hardware fair in Peru. Besides a display module where explanations about the program and the benefits of efficient lighting and ELI certification were given, ELI also gave two lectures to hardware stores owners and employees, as well as to hardware suppliers, on efficient lighting and the value of the ELI quality seal for CFLs.
