Association for Energy-Efficient Lighting (IAEEL)-Newsletter
IAEEL's current newsletter has a special lighting
issue of the Caddett newsletter, due to the kind support of Novem
in the Netherlands. Together, they offer almost 60 pages of reading
on lighting efficiency.
In this issue, they continue to look into fuel-based
lighting. The financial and environmental implications of the very
inefficient fuel-based solutions and how they deserve both attention
and action.
Also, they have published an update on the CFL markets
again. Please check out their latest issue!
LBNL
Ernest Orlando Lawrence founded this Lab, the oldest
of the national laboratories, in 1931. Lawrence invented the cyclotron,
which led to a Golden Age of particle physics and revolutionary
discoveries about the nature of the universe. Known as a mecca of
particle physics, Berkeley Lab long ago broadened its focus. Of
our nine Nobel Prizes, five are in physics and four in chemistry.
Today, we are a multiprogram lab where research in advanced materials,
life sciences, energy efficiency, detectors and accelerators serves
America's needs in technology and the environment.

Energy Commission
The California Energy Commission is the state's
primary energy policy and planning agency, charged with ensuring
a reliable and affordable energy supply. Created by the Legislature
in 1974 and located in Sacramento, the Commission
Canada's
Office of Energy Efficiency
The Office of Energy Efficiency (OEE), Canada's
centre of excellence for energy efficiency and alternative fuels
information, is playing a dynamic leadership role in helping Canadians
save millions of dollars in energy costs while addressing the challenges
of climate change.
Established in April 1998 as part of Natural Resources
Canada, the OEE's mandate is to renew, strengthen and expand Canada's
commitment to energy efficiency. The OEE originated out of Canada's
commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by six percent below
1990 levels by the period between 2008 and 2012, as agreed to in
the Kyoto Protocol.
Center
for Renewable Energy and Sustainable Technology

Ideas Clearing House
Since 1990, the Energy Ideas Clearinghouse (EIC)
has served energy professionals in the Pacific Northwest by providing
fast, centralized access to comprehensive and objective information,
education, resources, and technical assistance for increasing energy
efficiency. The Clearinghouse offers timely information on products
and technologies; national, state, and local programs; and the environmental
aspects of energy use. Topics include HVAC, lighting, industrial
electrotechnologies, life cycle cost analysis, market transformation,
energy policy, renewable energy, agricultural energy issues, cogeneration,
and many more.
Energy
Star Products and Programs
Energy Star is a voluntary partnership between the
U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency,
product manufacturers, local utilities, and retailers. Partners
help promote efficient products by labeling with the ENERGY STAR
logo and educating consumers about the unique benefits of energy
efficiency products.
In addition to labeled products, ENERGY STAR offers
voluntary partnerships which promote energy efficiency, reduce air
pollution, and save money for businesses large and small. Each year,
these partnerships save over $1 billion in energy costs while also
cutting air pollution. Whether you're a small business or large
corporation, they can benefit you, too. Click on the programs below
to find out more.

Institute for Energy Conservation
IIEC has worked to bring the power of sustainable
energy solutions to developing countries and economies in transition
since 1984. These solutions include energy efficiency, renewable
energy, and integrated transport planning. IIEC is working on the
crosscutting activities related to ELI.

Berkeley Lab's Environmental Energy Technologies
Division develops technology that uses, converts and stores energy
more efficiently and with less environmental impact, and studies
the link between energy use and the environment. An important outcome
of its work is the development of technologies and processes to
mitigate the environmental effects of energy use.
The EET Division was established in 1973 in response
to concerns about the cost, availability, and environmental effects
of energy. Over the years, the Division has responded to evolving
national and international concerns. A major area of research is
making residential and commercial buildings more energy-efficient,
and maximizing the health and productivity of building occupants.
Oak
Ridge National Laboratory's Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy
Program
The Energy Division is one of 15 research divisions
at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).
Our mission is to provide innovative solutions to
energy and related issues of national and global importance through
interdisciplinary research, development, and deployment.
World
Energy Efficiency Association
WEEA has been formed to: (1) serve as a clearinghouse
for information on energy efficiency programs, technologies and
measures, (2) disseminate this information worldwide, and (3) publicize
inter national cooperation efforts in energy efficiency.
U.S.
Department of Energy's Federal Energy Management Program
The mission of the Federal Energy Management Program
(FEMP) is to reduce the cost of government by helping agencies reduce
energy and water use, manage utility costs, and promote renewable
energy. FEMP's three major work areas include project financing;
technical guidance and assistance; and planning, reporting, and
evaluation.
