Translation of Lighting Standards

ELI helped translate European lighting standards into Latvian. The task was harder than expected due to other time commitments of the participants in the standards committee (lighting manufacturers). The subtasks were:

Step 1: Preparation work to get European lighting standards accepted as official in Latvia (work with Ministry of Economy, Latvijas Standards and Latvian Lighting Standardization Technical Committee).

Step 2. Translation of European lighting standards into Latvian.

Step 3: Organization of official statutes for use of European lighting standards (work with Latvian Lighting Standardization Technical Committee in drawing up translated standards according to requirements of Latvijas Standards).

Step 4: Informing public in Latvia about the new Lavtian lighting standards. Under contract with the Danish Energy Agency, two brochures and six "Lighting Standard Promotion Days" were produced.

Result is positive because different users are applying European lighting standards in Latvia. Lighting project clients are using them for tenders. Project designers and installation companies are using them for bidding documents and implementation of projects of lighting reconstruction or new buildings. It gives positive influence of human health and society in Latvia .
