The IFC/GEF Efficient Lighting Initiative (ELI)
2003 FAQ update

What have been the results of the ELI certification activities?

Presently over 110 CFL models coming from 11 different manufacturers have received ELI qualification, and one manufacturer has qualified over 50 lamp/ballasts.

Participating manufacturers have been enthusiastic and cooperative. For example, they have voluntarily replaced certain models which qualified early in the course of ELI have with newer and better performing models.

CFL specification has been made more stringent than it was at inception. The 6000-hour lifetime rating is still in place, despite initial concerns about price/quality trade-offs in the marketplace.
