PR activities
A PR campaign gives the possibility of communicating
more detailed information to the recipient and it adds extra importance
to the activity/product described. Publishing neutral public relation
articles is a key element in achieving the Czech ELI program goals.
There are two general types of message published:
Messages containing information on
the (not-so-well-known) benefits of CFLs (e.g. pay-back period,
availability of CFLs in different light temperatures etc.) and disproving
false statements about CFLs.
Messages containing information on ELI activities (school projects,
patronage of the minister of the environment etc.) in connection
with general information on the benefits of CFLs.
The different PR materials are communicated through selected media
best suiting the topics.
Cooperation with journalists
| In cooperation with the advertising agency
a group of around 50 of the most suitable journalists was
selected and addressed. All of them received an invitation
to the press conference and a special information pack. The
material contains comprehensive information on the ELI program,

on efficient lighting, defined the most important topics for
communication and prepared master articles ready for publishing.

Personality and patronage
In order to increase the credibility
and visibility of the campaign, an effort to have a publicly well-known
and credible personality to guarantee our project was undertaken.
The Czech minister ofthe environment of the Czech republic, one
of the most respected members of the Czech government, Mr. Milo
Ku vart, agreed to give his personal patronage of the ELI project.
