Main activities
2000
- ELI Market Assessment Period started and was concluded on
Fall, ELI Czech Republic work plan was drafted.
- Residential Market Survey was conducted as a part of Market
Assessment. |
2001
- As the first output of ELI activity, the street lighting
manual for towns and municipalities was printed and distributed
among 250 municipalities.
- A comprehensive countrywide CFL campaign was launched in
the Czech Republic at the beginning of the 2001 lighting season
(October).
- The Minister of the Environment of the CR, Mr. Milos Kuzvart,
took the ELI program under his personal patronage.
- An agreement with producers of light sources (OSRAM, PHILIPS,
GE Lighting) was concluded on cooperation within the framework
of the ELI program, particularly on the residential campaign’s
cooperation.
- Within the campaign three press conferences took place –
the initial one familiarising journalists and the public with
the ELI program and campaign itself, the press conference
connected with the announcement of the designer competition
results, and the press conference on the occasion of Minister
of the Environment assuming patronage.
- Operation of the Czech national website www.uspornazarivka.cz
was launched, providing information for consumers about energy-saving
lighting and supplementing the ELI campaign’s activities.
- The ELI team assisted with preparation of the tender for
the towns of Lovosice and Susice and drew up two additional
feasibility studies and started preparation in another 23
towns.
- The Contest for designers of CFLs compatible luminaries
was launched
- The educational program for basic school about efficient
lighting was launched in cooperation with NGO TEREZA, more
than 150 schools participated on the program
- Two all-day and four half-day seminars on public lighting
were organised for representatives of towns and municipalities;
one other seminar was determined for ESCos. |
2002
- Evaluation of the ELI Residential Campaign (Phase I) resulted
in the following figures:
- Sales of CFLs rose (for 2001 in comparison with 2000) depending
on data source from 15 to 79%.
- Consumer awareness of CFLs benefits increased 4.6 times
in comparison with pre-campaign surveys.
- The total GRP number of the ELI Residential Campaign reached
2150 (The GRP (Gross Rating Point) unit reflects the hit ratio
with the target group of readers, listeners or viewers. One
GRP point means addressing 1% of the population. This parameter
originates from media monitoring.).
- The ELI social campaign had with 8 mil CZK invested the
same impact as commercial 20 mil CZK campaign (thanks to social
nature given to the campaign by ELI team and advertisement
company REMMARK).
- Cooperation on the international “Lighting”
conference culminated in the June in cooperation with the
Czech Lighting Committee. ELI launched there an ESCO day for
lighting installation companies. The conference was held on
June 11-13, 2002 in Brno with more than 70 participating companies..
- The manual ” Interior Lighting – Practical Advice
Not Only for Electricians” was printed and distributed
in 5000 copies. ELI received a great response from professional
community – there was indicated a great demand for such
handbook
- The series of educational one-day seminars for electricians
and lighting contractors thorough the Czech Republic was launched.
In the one year period, there were nine seminars together
with 250 participants.
- Almost all Czech lighting- and electro-installation companies
(more than 300 contacts) were mailed with a questionnaire
surveying their potential to be an ESCo. Selected companies
were asked to participate in the ESCo training in late fall
2002.
- Other seminar for ESCo training was arranged a s accompanying
event with international conference and exhibition EEBW2002
(Energy Efficiency Business Week).
- The ELI Streetlighting section was also part of international
conference and exhibition EEBW2002. The event visited over
350 participants. Dozen of lighting manufacturers participated
on the exhibition as well.
- Within the framework of the ELI streetlighting activity,
feasibility studies for 11 cities whose representatives signed
the Memorandum of Cooperation were finished.
- The Phase II of the national information CFL campaign started
in December 2002. The full scale massive TV advertising part
of the campaign filled TV broadcast during Christmas week.
Other parts of the campaign has been following the TV advertising
on January and February 2003. |
2003
- The City of Teplice (40 th. inhabitants) signed Memorandum
of Cooperation on preparation of the tender on ESCo, which
will operate, maintain and retrofit the streetlighting system
of the city. The preparation of tender documentation was finished
at the end of March 2003.
- The Prague Electric Distribution Utility (PRe) signed Memorandum
of Cooperation on the dissemination of the leaflet about CFLs
advantages together with their invoice to the all residential
and small commercial consumers. It means, among others, that
PRe invested approximately 20000 USD to the print and distribution
costs. This information about CFLs will reach at least 500
000 residential and 200 000 small commercial customers thorough
direct mailing sponsored by PRe during year 2003.
- First stage of the pilot project in the Hlucin primary school
has been finished. The implementing company, Beghelli-Elplast,
lighting fixtures manufacturer, is going to finance this project
on ESCo principles and they will multiply it in other cities
and regions. There was also cooperation with OSRAM, a CFLs
manufacturer. |
