and marketing
The two electricity distribution
companies serving the Buenos Aires metropolitan area (Edenor
and Edesur) worked together on the design of the advertisement
contents of the Public Education and Marketing Campign which
was launched in billboards, main newspapers, radio, TV and
cable all over the country.

Education in
primary and secondary schools
ELI developed a program for
introducing efficient lighting concepts into primary and
secondary schools, through workshops organized by the
Universal Ecological Foundation (FEU). This campaign consisted
of training teachers on the environmental, social and
economic benefits of electricity efficiency, especially
lighting.

Workshops for adults
ELI held seminars and workshops on Efficient Lighting
in Zabaleta neighbourhood, Rio Gallegos and San Julián
province and in the Sheraton Hotel.

Professional and technical
education
This education has been an important step for the
incorporation of energy-efficient lighting into commercial,
public and industrial buildings. ELI sponsored and
supported post-graduate courses both in the National
University of Tucumán and in the University
of Buenos Aires. In 2003, ELI and the National Technological
University launched its first Distance Learning Course
on Energy-Efficient Lighting.

Long Distance Course
In 2003 together with the National Technological
University, ELI launched its first Distance Learning Course
on Energy-Efficient Lighting. The course comprises 17 lessons,
shown as PowerPoint presentations, followed by a number of
self-administered tests, examinations corrected by ELI, and
requirements for an essay and practical exercises for students
wishing for a higher level of certification. There was e-mail
interaction between
teachers and students. This course was offered free of cost,
and 800 persons
signed up for it. It started in May 2003 and finished in November.
The best performers were awarded a scholarship to attend the
MAVILE (Medio Ambiente Visual e Iluminación Eficiente)
course offered by the National University of Tucuman.

From May 25th to December 2004 ELI and UTN are working on
the 2nd Long Distance Course on Efficient Lighting.
