  • The Awards Ceremony for the ELI Design Contest for Efficient Lighting Installations was held in the IRAM auditorium. About 100 persons representing professional institutions and the government participated in the event.

2002

  • Laboratory tests for quality control of ELI-qualified CFLs took place.
At a global level, ELI selected the FATL laboratory in the Philippines, in order to test the quality of ELI-qualified CFLs.
  • "Right Light 5" conference with the collaboration of the University of Buenos Aires and the National University of Tucumán ELI-AR, prepared two papers which were presented at the conference, which was held together with the conference "Improving Electricity Efficiency in Commercial Buildings" in Nice, France.
  • The 6th Panamerican Lighting Congress LUXAMÉRICA 2002 was organized by the National University of Tucumán (UNT). ELI sponsored it and made several presentations including the opening workshop "Efficiency and quality in lighting from the point of view of energy use". The ELI Book on Energy Efficient Lighting (in Spanish) was presented at this event.
  • The National Electrical Regulation Board (ENRE) authorized ELI to initiate a pilot CFL sale to the public through Edesur´s commercial offices.
  • The ELI Educational Contest Awards ceremony was held at the Parks Museum (Buenos Aires). Well-known people belonging to the educational area participated in the event, together with school children, who received awards.
At a Science Fair in Buenos Aires province, ELI-Argentina advised two teams of students from secondary schools who presented projects related to energy efficiency and efficient lighting in households.

  • Displays were set up at Edesur commercial premises, for the exhibition and sale of CFLs models that have been qualified by ELI standards. The brand names represented include General Electric, Osram and Philips.

2001

  • At the Biennial Exposition of the Electrical and Lighting Industry (BIEL) held in Buenos Aires, ELI Argentina handed out brochures at the stands of the following companies: Edesur, Edenor, Edigar Press and the Argentine Association of Lighting Technologies (AADL). Also, ELI posters were placed at several locations in the Exhibition Space.
Edenor presented an interactive game which contributed to the diffusion of efficient lighting.
The Argentine Association of Lighting Technologies (AADL) held a Lighting Update workshop within the Expo. ELI collaborated in the organization of the workshop.
  • ELI Argentina organized a Design Competition to provide recognition to and reward to efficient lighting installations in Argentina. The rules were promoted in the professional media.
  • Zavaleta, a neighbourhood in the city of Buenos Aires, is not connected to the natural gas network, and thus has high electricity consumption. The low income levels of the population make electricity bills difficult to pay. As part of a project developed jointly by the Buenos Aires City Government and Edesur, ELI carried out a training program, which also included the participation of Edenor.
In Santa Cruz province, ELI held seminars on Efficient Lighting in November 2001.
